Dalhousie University is a large public research university in Nova Scotia, Canada, with three campuses in Halifax, a fourth in Bible Hill, and a second medical school campus in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Dalhousie University is a public university in Nova Scotia, Canada. It was founded in 1818 by George Ramsay, the ninth Earl of Dalhousie and the Lieutenant General of Nova Scotia. Dalhousie University is ranked as one of Canada’s top universities and has been recognized internationally for its research and teaching. The school has a campus with buildings that are spread across the city. The university is one of Canada’s oldest and most prestigious institutions.

According to QS World University Ranking 2022, it is ranked 308 globally and 12th among Canadian universities. The university has a variety of academic programs to choose from like science, commerce, arts and humanities, engineering, nursing, medicine and dentistry. They also have graduate programs in business administration, education and law among others. The admission to undergraduate programs starts around September. The university also offers 90+ Masters degree and 40+ Doctoral degree programs.

The University has two campuses, one at Halifax and the other at Truro. Students prefer to live both on-and-off campus. There are traditional and non-traditional styles of residences available at Halifax and Truro. Dining Halls are located in Howe Hall, Shirreff Hall, Risley Hall, and O’Brien Hall. Dalhousie’s campus has many green spaces and gardens that are used by both students and staff members. The university also provides a shuttle service to take students from their residence halls to the main campus building in winter months due to the cold weather. 

The university also has an outstanding library that offers a variety of services like 24/7 study spaces, group study rooms, and access to online databases. Killam Memorial Library is the largest library in Atlantic Canada featuring more than 1 million books.

There are different clubs and societies available on-campus to serve international students, LGBTQ2SIA+ community, indigenous students, residence students, students of different faith, etc.  Each year, over $5 Million is granted to promising Dalhousie University students in the form of scholarships, awards, bursaries and prizes. Some of the important scholarships available are – Year 3 Entry Scholarship, In-Course Scholarships, Irving Oil Scholarship, etc. 

Dalhousie University Placement

The university offers career supports to academically outstanding graduates. Career counseling, resume & cover letter tips, interview support, personality development workshops, etc are provided to students. The university placement drive includes companies like IBM, CIBC, Deloitte & Touche, Scotia Bank, and Dell.

Nearly 9,000 recruiters from more than 22 countries were asked to select 15 to 20 universities from a list of 6,000 international institutions to create the ranking.
